Paternal great great grandparents:
Redmond Parker CAFFERATA was born 1847 in
Liverpool, Lancashire, England. Redmond married Ellen BARTON in 1871. He took
over running of Cafferata and Co. in 1881. He died December 19th 1913 at
Harrowby House, Grantham, Lincolnshire at the age of 66.
Ellen BARTON was born in 1852. After marrying Redmond she bore 13 children, 12 of whom survived until maturity, several later joined the family firm. She died February 12th 1914, also at Harrowby House.
They had thirteen children: Fransesca (1872-1942), Beatrice (b 1873), Hubert Marie (1874-1944), Louis William (1875-1941), Cecilia Waterworth (b 1876), Redmond Barton (1878-1936), Wilfred Valentine (1879), Basil Edward (1881-1910), Bernard Joseph (b 1884), Clement Chamberlain (1885-1919), Cyril Francis (1886-1952), Helen Marie (b 1890) and Dorothy Margaret (1893-1938)
Michel DE BARTHOLOMEY was born in Russia in 1836 and was employed at the Russian Embassy in London in the 1870s. He was Russian Ambassador in Washington, prior to
becoming Lord Chamberlain to Czars Alexander II and III, possibly Nicholas II.
The Count reputedly spoke 30 languages and stood 6'10" tall. Served as
Ambassador from November 1880.
Frances Mary BROADWOOD / HAMILTON / LOWTHER Difficult to trace because of her many names met the Count in the 1870s, marrying him in 1879. She died in Vienna on 18 Jun 1884.
A family legend said that she was reputedly a daughter of the Duke of Hamilton who ran away to Russia with her music teacher before marrying the count.
Maternal great great grandparents:
Edward PRICKETT was born in 1852 in
Middlesex. He died in 1927. Edward married Hannah SEAMONS.
Hannah SEAMONS was born in Weedon, Nr
Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire in 1852. She died in 1923.
James FELL, who died in 1897. He married Ann Jane DUCKWORTH in 1880.
