4th Generation (Great Grandparents)
Paternal great grandparents:
Redmond Barton CAFFERATA was born 14 Apr
1878 in Newark, Nottinghamshire. He joined Cafferata & Co in 1897, taking
over the running of the new Hawton works by the turn of the century. During
World War 1 he worked for British Military Intelligence. He returned to the firm following the war but later retired to France where he lived in an observatory in Dignes. He
married Tatiana DE BARTHOLEMEY. They had 4 children; Redmond Randolph, Gerald,
Sonia and Tatiana.
He died in 21 Mar 1936 at Digne, France.
Tatiana DE BARTHOLEMEY was born 1876. She
died 1969.
Usually known as Tania. Mother was
(according to a family legend) the daughter of the Duke of Hamilton who ran away
with her Russian music teacher, then married the Count de Bartholemey. On the
Count's remarriage, his two daughters were placed at a convent in Paris
initially but Tatiana, then 5 years old, subsequently went to a convent on the
Isle of Wight for some years.
They had four children:
Redmond Randolph (1902-1946), Gerald Waterworth (1906-1986), Sonia (1908 - 1949) and Tania (1914-1992)
Maternal Great Grandparents:
Charles PRICKETT was born 24 Feb 1883 in Macclesfield, Cheshire. He died Feb 1963 in Darlington. Charles married Mabel FELL in 1906. He was always known by the name "Harold".
Mabel FELL was born 11 Feb 1881 in Liverpool. She died Dec 1965 in Darlington.
